January 10th
It was extremely difficult to keep vertical and look through binoculars on the seawall this morning with a SW gale blowing. We walked from Chamber's Wall to Coldharbour and saw very little, just 12 Reed Buntings, 2 Redshank, 2 Mute Swans, 7 Snow Buntings, 22 Oystercatchers, 2 Mallard and 20 Carrion Crows. On the drive home there were 22 Fieldfares in the field by the windmill at Brook Farm.
During the afternoon we spent half an hour at Minnis Bay where we saw a flock of 14 female Common Scoters sitting on the sea, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Eider and 1 Red-throated Diver.
